Postharvest quality evaluation of black table grapes cv. "Moscatel de Hamburgo" bagged with cellulose membranes.

Summary

Effect of cluster bagging on table grape cv "Moscatel de Hamburgo" (Vitis vinifera L.) was evaluated during grape storage. Clusters were bagged nearly one month before veraison with cellulose membranes. The treatments were: control, clusters bagged with the membrane and a packaging including a dual stage sulphur dioxide generator. The grapes were stored for 30 and 45 days at 0 °C and 85/90 relative humidity. Clusters stored with sulphur dioxide generator had the least weight loss and stem and pedicel desiccation. The results show that the cellulose membrane in postharvest storage, as a unique alternative to the sulphur dioxide generator, was not suitable under the experimental conditions used.
