Summary
The paper presents an overview of potential applications for high-temperature superconductors in the field of power engineering. These applications offer many benefits to the resident electrical system: increased energy efficiency, smaller equipment, reduced emissions, increased stability and reliability, deferred expansion and flexible transmission and distribution. They have a common focus: lower electricity costs, improved environmental quality and more competitive products for a global market.
