Preservation of the precious contents of libraries.
Conservation des fonds précieux dans les bibliothèques.
Author(s) : CHARDOT P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The author reviews the conditions required for the preservation of books while maintaining the well-being of the users and without prohibitive operating costs. The quality of the building is essential. A judicious choice of the storage premises facilitates the maintenance of the required temperature and humidity conditions. The excess of glass surfaces in modern buildings often make them unsuited to their function of preserving the heritage.
