Primary energy optimized operating strategies of absorption systems in CHCP networks.

Summary

The improvement of energy conversion systems in order to save primary energy is mandatory for all kinds of applications. The CHCP network which is considered in this paper consists of a central cogeneration power plant with a district heating network (DH) and local cold production. CHCP systems aim at saving primary energy but in fact this objective is achieved under favourable conditions only. Therefore, a system for local cold production has been modelled to simulate operation of an absorption chiller in connection with the DH network. The aim of this paper is to give insight into the interaction between working conditions of the chosen system and its primary energy consumption in order to maximize primary energy savings.
