Summary

THE AUTHORS ANALYSE THE PERFORMANCE OF A MIXED REFRIGERANT GAS LIQUEFACTION PLANT. THE PLANT IS COMPARATIVELY SIMPLE, HAVING FOUR SUB-SYSTEMS, THE CRYOGENIC LIQUEFACTION CYCLE GAS EXCHANGER WITH AUXILIARY EXCHANGERS, ITS COMPRESSION SYSTEM WITH SEA-WATER COOLERS, THE CRYOGENIC PRE-COOLING CYCLE GAS EXCHANGERS, AND A PRE-COOLING CYCLE COMPRESSION SYSTEM. USING AN ANALYSIS EXERGY BASIS, IT IS DEMONSTRATED THAT CHANGES IN THE MIXED REFRIGERANT COMPOSITION PRODUCE LARGE CHANGES BOTH IN CYCLE EFFICIENCY AND IN THE RESULTANT OUTPUT. BOTH FACTORS ARE RELEVANT IN OPTIMISATION AND IN BALANCING OUTPUT WITH SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF GAS CONSUMPTION AND OF THE INPUT COMPONENTS. D.W.H.
