Summary

The removal of oxygen from argon to level of a few ppm cannot be achieved by rectification using conventional components such as perforated column trays. Description of a new method of argon production where dumped or arranged packings are employed in rectifying columns of separation plants in place of perforated trays. Many curves illustrate the main differences in the results obtained by this method and by the classical one. This new method seems to be of very great interest in the history of cryogenic air separation plant and is now being applied with major success. J.V.
