Summary

THE PAPER DISCUSSES THE RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS OF A SERIES OF PAPERS WHICH REPORTED INVESTIGATION OF THERMAL PULSES IN HELIUM II AND THE HYPOTHESIS ON VAPOUR FILM FORMATION IN SHORT-TIME HEATING OF THE WALL. A COMMENT ON POSSIBLE MECHANISMS OF VORTEX FORMATION IN THE SECOND SOUND SHOCK WAVE IS PROPOSED. PROCEEDING FROM RESULTS ON NONLINEAR HELIUM II ACOUSTIC WAVES SEVERAL EFFECTS ARE DISCUSSED THAT WERE OBSERVED IN THE PAPERS COVERED.
