Summary

GENERAL CRITICISM OF PRESS ARTICLES AND TV PROGRAMMES, AT PEAK LISTENING PERIOD, CONCERNING THE INFLUENCE OF SUPERCONDUCTING CERAMICS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MAGLEV WHICH ARE RAPID TRAINS WITH MAGNETIC LIFT. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THERE IS NO < FRICTION ABSENCE > IN THE JAPANESE TRAINS WITH SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS, AS IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN IN THE PRESS, AND THE CERAMIC COMPOUNDS DO NOT STAND SUFFICIENT CURRENT DENSITIES TO BE USABLE RIGHT NOW. THE PROBLEMS ENTAILED BY THE CRYOGENIC TRAINS ARE FAR FROM BEING SOLVED. J. V.
