Summary

THE < PSYCHROMETRIC PROBLEM > FOR SMALL NEUTRAL GAS ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION UNITS WORKING WITH HELIUM INSTEAD OF HYDROGEN AS PRESSURE EQUALIZING GAS IS EXAMINED. A DIAGRAM HAS BEEN PLOTTED FOR THE PRESSURE OF 25 BARS, WHERE THE VALUES OF THE MASS FRACTION OF THE AMMONIA/HELIUM GAS MIXTURE FOR VARIOUS VALUES OF < DRY > AND < WET BULB > TEMPERATURES ARE PRESENTED. A COMPUTER BASED PROCEDURE HAS BEEN DEVELOPED WHICH ENABLES THE GAS CONCENTRATION IN AMMONIA/WATER/HELIUM ABSORPTION REFRIGERATION UNITS TO BE DETERMINED BY SUITABLE TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENTS. THE CONCENTRATION OF HELIUM GAS MIXTURE ENTERING THE EVAPORATOR CAN BE DETERMINED BY INSULATING THE EVAPORATOR AND MEASURING THE INLET AND OUTLET GAS TEMPERATURE AND THE WALL TEMPERATURE AT THE OUTLET.
