Several indices of ventilation efficiency are presented in the paper. These indices are clearly defined and analysed. A study carried out on a pilot-scale clean room illustrates the value of their use within industrial configurations characterised by high air change rates. These criteria can help industrial stakeholders to design and operate clean rooms: ventilation mode, distribution of inlet flow rates, location of the pollutant sources.
