R502 IS AN AZEOTROPIC MIXTURE OF R22 AND R115 AND MAY PROVE MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY ACCEPTABLE THAN SOME COMMON CFCS. ITS TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES OVER THE COMMONLY USED R22 AND R12 ARE IN BETTER COP, LOWER DISCHARGE TEMPERATURES AND MORE EFFECTIVE MOTOR WINDING TOLERANCE DUE TO BETTER COOLING AND REDUCED EFFECT ON WINDING INSULATION. OTHER ADVANTAGES INCLUDE LOWER SWELLING EFFECTS THAN R22 ON ELASTOMERS AND LOWER SOLUBILITY WITH OILS WHICH MUST REDUCE OIL FOAMING IN COMPRESSOR SUM D. W. H.
