Summary

In this paper, we present the recent progress of our work in the development of suitable magnetocaloric materials produced by a robust and pertinent process. Today, the process developed by Erasteel, based on gas atomization of the material and subsequent annealing, hydrogenation and shaping is well controlled apart from minor improvements, but some issues remain regarding the compositions, materials stability and overall performance. Our recent studies have thus been focused on the improvement of the intrinsic magnetocaloric properties, the stability of hydrogen in the material and the understanding of the required properties to use such materials in a magnetic refrigeration device.
