AFTER WORLD WAR II, THE IMPORTS OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS INTO JAPAN INCREASED CONSIDERABLY AND SHE IS NOW ONE OF THE MAJOR IMPORTING COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD FOR PRODUCTS SUCH AS WHEAT, GRAIN AND SOY BEANS, AS WELLAS OTHER PRODUCTS WHICH WERE HITHERTO PRODUCED IN THAT COUNTRY. THE REPORT DEALS WITH: THE PROBLEM OF THE IMPORT OF AGRICULTURAL AND MARINE PRODUCTS, THE IMPORT OF FOODS WHICH ARE NOT INFLUENCED BY THE ECONOMIC SITUATION, THE IMPORT OF PERISHABLE FOODS AND THE NECESSITY OF BALANCING THEM WITH DOMESTIC PRODUCTION, THE IMPORT OF PERISHABLE FOODS FROM THE US AND ASIA, AND THE FUTURE SITUATION.
