Recent progress in magnetic regenerator materials and their application.

Author(s) : HASHIMOTO T.

Summary

The author's department has been interested in the application of magnetic materials to refrigeration technology since 1978. Recently, in the temperature range below 20 K, he has verified the effectiveness and usefulness of several magnetic materials for helium liquefaction. Therefore, first he describes the guidelines for selecting such material, typical experimental results obtained with them and with the refrigeration system which seem to be indicating the path of future development. Above 20 K he investigates the active magnetic regenerator and guideline for making the complex material suitable for working material is shown.
