Recent progress of magnetocaloric effect of Mn-As-Sb.

Author(s) : WADA H., FUNABA C., ASANO T., et al.

Summary

The magnetic transition and magnetocaloric effects (MCEs) were examined for Mn-As-Sb alloy synthesized by various heat treatments. It was found that this alloy forms a single phase with the Ni-As-type structure, when the sample was slightly enriched by Mn. A first-order magnetic transition was observed, when the samples were quenched from a liquid state and subsequently annealed at appropriate temperatures. The results of direct measurements of the adiabatic temperature change indicate that this alloy shows giant MCEs in a wide temperature range from 230 to 300 K.
