Heat capacity and direct determination of the magnetocaloric effect in MnAs(1-x)Sb(x).

Author(s) : PALACIOS E., TOCADO L., BURRIEL R., et al.

Summary

Thermal studies of this alloy are presented: field dependent heat capacity, a non-standard method of dynamic thermograms, and direct measurements of the heating effect upon magnetic field application. The results show first-order transitions and thermal hysteresis for every compound at H= 0, Curie temperature ranging from 219.1 to 315.7 K on heating. When H is different than 0, Curie temperature shifts towards higher temperatures and the latent heat decreases.
