Reducing energy consumption of refrigeration compressors in large breweries.

Number: pap. n. 42

Author(s) : VANJUR I., SOVILJ V.

Summary

Breweries cannot be imagined without a constant supply of energy. Energy must be supplied at the right time and in various forms, which complicates the production of beer, but also makes it more challenging. Breweries constantly control energy consumption and try to reduce the per-unit cost. The energy required for refrigeration is present in all key steps of the production process. This paper provides an overview of energy consumption of the refrigeration system in large breweries and analyzes possible solutions, which could reduce that consumption. The conclusion of the paper is that with new measures the compressor energy consumption could be reduced by up to 13%.
