REFRIGERANT LEAKAGE IN HEAT PUMP REVERSING VALVES INCLUDING COMPARISON TO AIR LEAKAGE MEASUREMENTS.

Author(s) : LEE W. N., et al.

Summary

TESTS FOR REFRIGERANT LEAKAGE ON 35 DIFFERENT VALVES ARE PRESENTED. THESE VALVES ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF 7 DIFFERENT TYPES OF REVERSING VALVES. THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH AIR LEAKAGE TESTS SIMULATED ON A TEST STAND WITH A VALVE EITHER HEATED OR AT LABORATORY AMBIENT CONDITIONS. THE COLD AIR LEAKAGE PARAMETERS ARE UNRELATED TO THE REFRIGERANT VALUES. ON THE OTHER HAND, THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE LEAKAGE PARAMETERS BASED ON THE HOT VALVE AND THE REFRIGERANT TESTS IS BARELY ACCEPTABLE.
