Summary
Various refrigerants are used in Europe at present, particularly fluorinated derivatives, ammonia and hydrocarbons. The applications of these refrigerants and needs vary from one country to another. Fluorinated refrigerants dominate the European market. A significant reduction in the use of these refrigerants is forecast. The market shares of hydrocarbons and ammonia respectively are likely to increase slightly from 10 to 12% today to 15% ultimately, as a result of R717 being adopted in the industrial refrigeration sector.
