Summary
Some aspects are analysed: reliability, control systems and the determination of the minimum water content of the refrigerating system. Reliability is considered to be mainly connected with low starting-up frequency and with constancy of evaporator heat load and water flow rates in liquid chiller. As for the control of the compressor capacity in liquid chillers, it is recommended a proportional control, the temperature of water at the evaporator inlet being the controlled variable. At last, practical correlations are proposed to determine the minimum water content that allows the running time of the compressor between two stops be long enough to assure reliable operation of the system.
