Summary

FIRSTLY, THE THERMO-CHEMICAL BEHAVIOUR OF OIL IS STUDIED: INFLUENCE OF HEAT, OXIDATION, REACTION WITH THE REFRIGERANT LEA-DING TO A DETRIMENTAL ACIDIFICATION. SYNTHETIC AND MINERAL OILS ARE THEN COMPARED AND FLUIDS ARE CLASSIFIED ACCORDING TO THEIR STABILITY IN CONTACT WITH OILS AND METALS. THE CONDITIONS FOR PROPER OIL CIRCULATION ARE ANALYSED AND ADVICE IS GIVEN ON THIS ASPECT. J.L.
