Refrigeration (equipment in the USA).
Type of article: Article
Summary
A survey in the USA shows over the last 10 years a slow rise in the production and sales of commercial refrigeration display cases, both low and normal temperatures. Also a similar but more erratic rise in the number of unit coolers and in domestic refrigerators and freezers. Heat pumps have taken a share in the domestic market which has risen from 0 to 8% between 1970 and 1990, about the same rate of increase as heating furnaces. The eventual HCFC phaseout will force manufacturers to consider alternatives to HCFC-blown insulants. D.W.H.
