Author(s) : SAWALHA S., PALM B., RIVET P., et al.

Type of article: Article, Case study

Summary

The refrigeration industry is resolutely modernizing, by thinking again about using forgotten fluids, such as carbon dioxide or ammonia. However, for optimal effectiveness, these fluids must be used with care, and the installations must be made safe. The first article in this file proposes safety analysis concerning the use of CO2 in supermarkets; then, a plant operating with ammonia and using two different secondary refrigerants, including CO2, is described. A new improvement to semihermetic piston compressors achieved thanks to electronics is also described.
