Summary
This paper describes the Eurofighter Typhoon Praetorian Defensive Aids Sub System cold wall cooling, a novel ram air driven vapour compression refrigeration system operating with HFC-245fa. A brief history of the use of vapour compression systems in light, commercial and military aircraft and other aerospace applications for air conditioning and heritage from refrigerated food service applications is included.
