Summary

The revised European regulation, F-Gas n° 517/2014, on refrigerants HFC largely used todays in most of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and incLuded in the French code of environment in December 2015, has very important consequences on the choice of buying new equipments (liquid chillers, cold rooms, preservation cells, air condition ers, heat pumps), but also, on the choice to modify the existing ones. Important points of this new regulation regarding usual refrigerants, well knowned by their ASHRAE code (R404A, R507, R134a, R410A, R407) will be given, and impacts reported for new as for existing systems. For each of the most used (R404A, R134a, R410A) a list of actual candidates is established and commented. At least, 80 new synthetics refrigerant are todays tested and severaL experimented on sites). The paper will present and comment the actual (1) trends for the various systems commony used, incLuding natural refrigerants like R717, R744, HC, air, water and not forgetting alternatives to mechanicaL refrigerant compression like magnetic, adsorption or absorption ...
