Summary

Measurements were carried out on a refrigeration installation at the National High School for Tourism and Traffic (NHTV), at Breda (the Netherlands). The installation consisted of an absorption chiller, driven by district heating and paralleled to an electrically driven compression chiller. The results of the analysis led to a number of changes in the programme. High on the list was the effect of load and despite the high temperatures experienced during the summer holiday of 1995, the cooling load was never higher than one third of the installation capacity.
