The author presents this process, which was discovered in 1933, but has hardly been used. He describes research in practical applications. He stresses the fact that the vortex tube, which has no mechanically moving parts, can be used anywhere, as long as there is a compressor or compressed-air tanks available, and as long as there is no need for temperatures below -50 deg C.
