Summary

The implications for climate change of the proposed European Union (EU) legislation on controls of fluorinated greenhouse gas (F-Gas) use and emissions are examined. Globally, F-Gases are expected to account for 0.5% of the effect of greenhouse gases by 2010. The EU’s contribution to this should be reduced by legislation to improve management of stationary refrigeration and air-conditioning.
