Reliability and lifetime of residential heat pumps.
Author(s) : LOVVORN N.
Summary
The Alabama Power Company (APCo), a 'Southern company', is one of the largest producers of electricity in the United States of America. APCo recognised the heat pump's potential in the late 1940s, when the equipment was used only for cooling. The management had the vision to become involved in research, development and marketing of this electric appliance. The paper outlines the programmes, the reliability research, and subsequent reports made in conjunction with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
