Summary

Current policies target the ongoing intensive increase of heat pump installations mostly in the residential sector. However, installations in industry, central heating systems, the gastro sector, and other services are also important. In this paper, we make use of guidelines for calculating renewable energy from heat pumps based on the EU renewable directive and Slovak law. We show the advantages of electronic data logging and reporting on the possibility of automatic analysis, fast access to the full history of data, and various forms of output. Among the numerous results are yearly and cumulative statistics of different kinds of heat pump installations, heat production, power consumption, emissions, costs, the ratio of renewable sources of energy obtained using heat pumps, and more. Electronic data reports of installed heat pumps enable us to summarize and analyze important trends in data for chosen periods of time using a Web-based system. The key contribution of this work is the methodology of how to quantitatively evaluate the contributions of heat pumps to environmental goals. This paper is based on the activities of the Slovak Association for Cooling, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps started in the year 2003 supported by the Ministry of Environment. The electronically led reporting was developed from the previous paper form. The evaluated data was collected from distribution companies.
