Summary
The property of new types of foamed polyethylene and the application of a portable mini cold storage room made from this material were studied for the storage of apples and table grapes. Results showed that the comprehensive technical indexes of the structure made of foamed polyethylene board were good. The optimal coefficient of working hours of the refrigerated system was 0.24, while that of the control was 0.32. The thermal conductivities of the structure made of polyethylene and the control were 0.95 and 1.00, respectively. The properties of the foamed polyethylene board were: 3.5% heat induced rate of shape change; 150% compressed rate; and 3.14 N/cm2 compressed intensity. Fuji apples and Kyoho table grapes had a better quality in the portable mini cold storage room made of their new type foamed polyethylene than that in the control after 86 days of storage.
