Summary

A HEAT PUMP THAT IS CAPABLE OF UTILIZING THE LATENT HEAT OF A WATER SOURCE HAS A LONGER UTILIZATION TIME AND WILL SAVE GREATER QUANTITIES OF ENERGY THAN ONE WHICH USES ONLY THE SENSIBLE HEAT ; THE GREATEST SAVINGS ARE TO BE MADE IF RIVERS OR STREAMS ARE USED AS THE HEAT SOURCE, OR IF THERE IS ONLY LIMITED AVAILABILITY OF SURFACE WATER. USING STANDARD COMPONENTS, IT IS POSSIBLE TODAY TO BUILD A 1 MW MECHANICAL ICE-MAKING TRIPLE POINT HEAT PUMP. (SYNOP. SWED. BUILD. RES., SE., N.6, 1983/11, 23.
