Summary

The desiccant regeneration has been a vital problem in improving the efficiency of solid desiccant dehumidification systems. In the paper, a novel electro-osmotic (EO) regeneration method for the solid desiccant system was investigated experimentally. It was found that EO force could remove water from the zeolite desiccant and the water removal rate was obtained about 2.1 × 10^6 kg/s. However, its performance could not meet the practical requirement due to the Joule heating effect and electrode corrosion. In order to improve its performance, several improvement methods were tested. It was observed that using platinum-plated titanium anode, laying the drenched layer pressed closely under the cathode, and applying interrupted power all improved the performance of the EO regeneration.
