Summary

The resistance to airflow of oat (yellow type) was measured experimentally at three different heights. The range of airflow velocities employed in the study were 0.07 to 1.27 m3/m2 through bins of 30.48, 60.96 and 91.44 centimeters in depth. Pressure drop increases more rapidly with the increase of the air velocity than with the increase of the bed height. The variations found in the lineal relation between pressure drop and column depth can be attributed to changes in the bed porosity.
