Summary

In this work we present a study of the magnetocaloric effect in phase separated manganites, which display the intrinsic coexistence of ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic phases. In particular, we focus on the influence of phase separation on the magnitude of the effect, analysing the adiabatic change of temperature and the isothermal change of enthalpy, obtained by direct and indirect methods, respectively. Our results show a superposition of reversible and non-reversible processes during magnetic field induced transitions. We further present a model which is in well agreement with the experimental data.
