Summary

POLYRIBOSOME DENSITY GRADIENT PROFILES WERE OBTAINED FROM LYOPHILIZED TISSUE OF SWEET CHERRY. ORGANIC ACIDS, PECTIC SUBSTANCES, SUGARS AND PHENOLS IN FRUIT CAN INTERFERE WITH THE EXTRACTION OF POLYRIBOSOMES. CHANGES IN THE CONTENT OF THESE SUBSTANCES WITH FRUIT AGE NECESSITATE THE ADJUSTMENT OF THE POLYRIBOSOMAL EXTRACTIONSOLUTION IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A REPRESENTATIVE POLYRIBOSOME PROFILE DURING RIPENING.
