Imports of quick-frozen strawberries increased by 42% in 1996, reaching a level of 58 740 tonnes; statistics for other fruit are as follows: raspberries, 32,130 tonnes (+16%); sweet cherries, 4,010 tonnes (+21%), blackberries, 23,980 tonnes (+29%), purchases of blackcurrants (+17%); imports of acidic cherries, redcurrants and blackcurrants fell by 8, 5 and 6% respectively.
