P-V DIAGRAM IN AN AIR COMPRESSOR IS A TOOL FOR STUDY OF FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES. IT PROVIDES VALUABLE INFORMATION FOR OPTIMIZING PARAMETERS. THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES A METHOD TO MEASURE AND RECORD P-V CHANGES WITHIN A ROTOR SEGMENT AS THE SEGMENT COMPLETES THE AIR INDUCTION-COMPRESSION-DISCHARGE CYCLE. MEASUREMENTS WERE ALSO DONE FOR THE INPUT POWER TO THE AIR-END AS WELL AS POWER TO THE COMPLETE PLANT PACKAGE. AN ATTEMPT BEGAN TO UNDERSTAND THE P-V RELATIONSHIP AND TO THE STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS DESIGN PARAMETERS ON THE P-V DIAGRAM.
