Summary

IN 1987, A WORKING GROUP OF THE GROUPEMENT INTERNATIONAL DES IMPORTATEURS DE GNL ENDED A STUDY ON THE SAFETY SYSTEM FOR LNG, THAT IS TO SAY ALL THE PREVENTION, DETECTION AND PROTECTION EQUIPMENT DEVELOPED TO COMBAT LNG LEAKAGES AND SPILLS. OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE MADE IT POSSIBLE TO REVIEW AND CLASSIFY THE VARIOUS TYPES OF LNG LEAKAGES. THE IMPLEMENTATION AND THE PERFORMANCES OF THE SAFETY SYSTEMS, WITH REGARD TO THESE INCIDENTS, WERE DESCRIBED, AND THE PRINCIPLES OF AN EFFICIENT CHOICE OF THESE SYSTEMS FOR THEIR USE WERE DEDUCED.
