Summary

This article deals with very important problems of energy consumption in hospitals. In the first part of the article, the statement of expenses of energy consumption for air conditioning and ventilation systems in a modern hospital using as example the Specialist Hospital of Koscierzyna for the period 2002-2003. In the second part, the author presents methods for energy saving in this hospital: energy recovery in air-conditioning and ventilation systems as well as the general modernization of these systems, including the air-heating installation. Particular attention was paid to the problems of modernization and readjustment of the control systems for air conditioning, water chillers and central heating installations. Planning of the operation of these installations as well as calculations of operation costs have been presented.
