Summary
A specific application of R744 (CO2) as a working substance in refrigerating engineering and heat pumps (HP), advantages of a gas-liquid cycle (GLC) when using CO2 in heat pumps as well as priorities and first developments in this field have been envisaged. The criteria of appropriateness of using HP with GLC in the heat and hot water supply systems as well as basic realizable schemes of such HP have been cited. The state and trends of CO2 heat pumps development for the decentralized and centralized heat supply have been described; concrete examples of such developments have been given.
