Secondary refrigerant circuits.

Summary
To prevent unpredicted environmental hazards by new synthetic refrigerants, conversion to natural refrigerants, for example, NH3, CO2, H2O, is preferable. But NH3 is not acceptable for application in direct connection with supermarket cabinets or air-handling units, because of its toxic properties and odour. Therefore, a new ammonia plant should be designed on the basis of a secondary refrigerant circulating system. In the paper, a device designed to reduce the pumping energy of the secondary refrigerant is discussed. The zone pump system can reduce energy consumption by 20-30% compared with a central pump system.
