Summary

A report on measurements done with R134a during condensation and evaporation. Performance was tested in individual and in complete bundles of standard and high-performance finned tubes. Comparisons were made with R22 and R12. Condensation performance was found to be considerably higher with R134a than with R22 and R12. High-performance finned tubes were about 40% more efficient than standard finned tubes. During evaporation, performance values of oil-free R134a were under those of R22, at the same evaporating temperature. The first part of the article deals more particularly with evaporation; the second, with condensation.
