Type of article: Periodical article
Summary
TWO METHODS OF TRANSPORTING HYDROGEN BY SEA ARE DISCUSSED, CARRYING IT IN A LIQUID STATE OR VIA A CHEMICAL CARRIER SUBSTANCE SUCH AS AMMONIA OR TOLUENE. THE TWO OPTIONS ARE SHOWN IN A PICTORIAL TABLE AND TWO SHIP DESIGNS FOR TRANSPORT OF LIQUID HYDROGEN ARE DISCUSSED. THE USE OF VACUUM SUPER INSULATION SYSTEMS IS CONSIDERED TOGETHER WITH MOBILE TANKS TO REDUCE TRANSFER LOSSES. SOME COMPARATIVE DATA FOR HYDROGEN AND OTHER GASES AND FUELS, AND VARIOUS INSULATION SYSTEMS ARE ALSO GIVEN. G.R.S.
