Simplified modelling of an open-type reciprocating compressor using refrigerants R22 and R410A. 2. Model.

Summary

A rather simple model can be accurate enough to explain the behaviour of a refrigeration compressor when supplied with different refrigerants. The demonstration is done in these two papers with an open reciprocating compressor supplied with R22 and R410A. This second part treats modelling. The refrigerant mass flow rate is supposed to be affected by a pressure drop at the inlet, by a heating due to friction losses and discharged gas. The model is then able to determine the ambient losses and the exhaust temperature. The compression step is supposed to be isentropic and the friction power composed by a constant contribution plus one proportional to the isentropic power. This study shows that such a compressor model can be tuned in such a way not to depend anymore on the refrigerant type.
