Summary

Hauser GmbH and Sanden Environmental Products Corporation have developed plug-in refrigerated cabinets which are equipped with R744 transcritical refrigerating units with a heat rejection to the brine loop and/or indoor air. Each refrigerating unit is equipped with a R744 scroll compressor with a displacement of 4.0 cm3 / rev. The first field tests have started in January 2016 and the mass
production has started in April 2016. The purpose of this paper is to describe the principle of operation and design of the plug-in R744 refrigerating unit, to analyze its operation and to compare it with R290 refrigerating units in regard to efficiency.
