Summary

THE NON-LINEAR DYNAMIC 3-D FINITE 8-NODE ELEMENT METHOD WAS USED TO ANALYZE THE BEHAVIOUR AND IMPACT STRESS OF VALVES. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE IMPACT STRESS WAVE OF THE NUMERICAL ANALYSIS AGREES WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULT. THE IMPACT FATIGUE CHARACTERISTICS OF VALVES WERE SIMULATED THROUGH COMPUTING ANALYSIS UNDER VARIOUS CONDITIONS. THE RESULTS PREDICTED THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS VERY WELL. FINALLY, AN ADVANCED DESIGN METHOD FOR IMPROVING THE RELIABILITY OF COMPRESSOR VALVE IS PROPOSED.
