Simulation model for hermetic reciprocating compressors.

Author(s) : PRODAN M. M.

Summary

The article focuses on the unsteady-state analysis of the thermodynamic cycle of a hermetic reciprocating compressor. The overall model of the compressor is composed of several sub-models and a one-degree of freedom valve motion has been implemented. The simulation computer code has an iterative structure. Input values are set for the refrigerant properties, boundary conditions and the geometrical data of the hermetic unit. The compressor performances, for the different working fluids (CFC-12, HFC-134a, HC-290 and HC-600a), agree well with the technical data provided by the manufacturer.
