Simulation model of a refrigerator based on magnetocaloric effect at room temperature.

Author(s) : APREA C., MAIORINO A.

Summary

Room temperature magnetic refrigeration is a new highly efficient and environmentally protective technology. In the paper, a simulation model of an active magnetic regenerator is presented. The simulation considers the gadolinium as magnetocaloric material and water as the heat transfer fluid. The results show that the COP of a magnetocaloric refrigerator is about 80% as big as the COP of a refrigeration vapour compression plant working with the classical working fluids at the same level temperatures.
