Summary

The DEVS (Discrete Event Simulation) methodology has its origin in the simulation of electronic systems, where there are processes with different behaviours. This paper describes an implementation of this methodology for the simulation of thermal processes. In this case, the methodology is applied to calculating the response of a wall using different temperature excitations on one of its surfaces. Results are compared with analytical solution in each case.
Building energy simulation programs use constant time steps in their simulation processes. The discret event simulation allows change time steps in order to follow the system response accurately, so time between calls is shortened when the process velocity increases. This application is interesting in building energy simulation, because there are elements with different dynamics.
